Darmstadt ’17

Best Of Darmstadt ’17 (90 pics)
no time to edit every single pic, as I usually do. What you see is, except some cropping, what comes directly out of the camera…
Another 163 pics from Darmstadt…
…maybe I should mention once again, that I only use the single shot mode of my camera. The normal method used by professional tennis photographers, the serial shooting with a fast motor taking up to twenty pics per second, simply doesn’t interest or thrill me at all. I want to be as focused on the crucial moments as the players are. That self-restriction also is the reason, why I always have to take so many pics, just in order to have a good choice afterwards.

Home, sweet home again. Thousands of pics to watch and edit. A 'BestOf' here asap. If Gerlach prevails against Lottner tomorrow, I'll come back on Friday. To be honest, I don't think she has a ghost of a chance. But as you know, in tennis this means simply nothing. Especially, when a player is developing as dashingly as 'Katha G.' does these days...

Lots of friendliness today. These women are really open-minded and warm-hearted creatures. Well, most of them, at least. One middle-aged woman from the staff seems to dislike me very much. Tried to find out, why, but she doesn't want to explain. So all I can do is to wish her maximum fun with that. Don't worry, be happy! In Rosmalen it was a middle-aged woman as well, by the way. I kind of understood, why she chose to reject my application and told her so quite kindly, which she answered in a very unfriendly way. Don't think this was a sign for inner freedom. But don't hate the haters! Cause then you are a hater yourself. And, logically, as you would hate all haters, you'd have to hate yourself as well. Which of course leads directly to the famous chicken-egg-question. Everybody has "good reasons", from his or her very own point of view. All you need is love...
Well, in art, as in tennis, it's the result, that counts. What's needed to get there, has to be done or suffered. That's the deal. It's nice to find more and more harmony with and understanding of the players, resulting in better photos. Nothing else matters.

Don’t have to work tomorrow. So I am free to stay in Darmstadt for two more days. But without my laptop I’m not able to come up with the pictures before Thursday or Friday. The photo above the player asked me to shoot and was made with my iPhone. That’s why I can post it here…
